Michael Todd Byerly

Todd grew up working on ranches and farms in the Wet Mountain town of Rye, where he and his brothers raised livestock for 4-H projects. Graduating high school, Todd attended and completed his undergraduate degree at Colorado State University in Pueblo majoring in Biology before completing a Master’s degree at Texas Tech University in Fisheries Sciences. He later earned a degree in elementary education.

For a period, he was employed by Sombrero Ranches working horses and running pack trains into Rocky Mountain National Park. Moving on from there, he taught second, third, and fourth grade science in elementary schools where he worked with underprivileged minority students. He has served six years in a heavy Cav unit in the Army National Guard, most recently acting as Company Executive officer. Not able to sit behind a desk and call it a life, Todd prefers to be outside breathing the clean mountain air.

Back home in the Wet Mountains, Todd spends his free time hunting and fishing. He hopes to be a positive contributing member of the community working here at A Painted View and its many events, as well as, working with disadvantaged students in the Valley.
